Yes, the AmeriPod(s) are designed to mount on the AmeriDeck SuperDeck-III.  I have been a rep for AmeriDeck for about three years and this pod concept actually came from conversations with AmeriDeck customers.  Three different customers asked about a cargo container for their supplies for various event situations. Concessionaires looking to store non-perishable supplies and a motorcycle parts dealer.  They wanted to store their supplies near their vending/food trailer. After putting together a couple designs for them the thought of a camping pod just fell into place for me.

What exactly is a camping pod? It's a solid construction, vs canvas, providing a larger and generally more comfortable camping experience than a canvas tent.

Loading video

This was the first video loading the toy-hauler/camping-pod onto my truck.  Everything fit!

More videos to follow as fast as I can shoot them.

Finally finished!

March 20th was the first day I saw a drawing from the factory, based on my initial sketches.  Now it's finished, on my truck and already broken in as a camper.  I need to add a few anchor points to enable the toy-hauler functionality.

Take a look!

What would YOU build?

This AmeriPod Camping Pod began on the backside of a book review...   I was already selling the AmeriDeck SuperDeck III for the factory and had an inquiry about a storage container for a carnival concessionaire.

I eventually linked up with a fabricating company that dealt exclusively in aluminum and started working with one of their design engineers.  That evolved into the POD that is being manufactured this week.

Original sketch 3/13/18
Having the basic design, where might we go with it?

Let us know what you would like to see in a camping/storage/equipment unit and what vehicle you would like it to fit!  Full size pickup?  Low Profile? Trailer mounted?  1994 Toyota mini-pickup (I had one!)

We can actually produce the design for you in a matter of a day or so.  Anything is possible with today's technology. Give us a try.

In a couple weeks I'll have photos and videos of the prototype and can start spinning off variations.

Test or email your thoughts directly to me:  717-620-9676   Jeff@kurtzinpa.com

Hydraulic Package - Troubleshooting

It doesn't often come up, but if you need service or adjustments on your hydraulic, here are the specs:

Bucher Hydraulics
Grand Rapids, MI

Model  M3551-0514

Details<<<

Some observed problems over the years:

Pressing button does not actuate pump.  Perhaps a wire at the plug-in connector has pulled loose.  Try squeezing the cable back into the connector while pressing the faulty button. The entire pendant can be replaced.

This has been a pretty flawless system over the years.  We will post more resolutions if incurred.
Everything is off-the-shelf american made and any hydraulic equipment, trailer or farm equipment location should be able to help remedy issues.

August production!

Right now it looks like late August before the prototype will be available.  Windows are here at my place.
I had the engineers cut the trop front corner back at a 45 deg angle and add this picture window... more of a skylight, I guess.  Sketches to follow.

Side windows are taller and not as wide.

The factory is helping me save $'s by letting me buy and install my own windows.  They will cut the openings and frame them with 1x1" aluminum tubing.

One nece feature of these shells is that they are entirely custom and the buyer can have all or nothing done by the factory when it comes to outfitting the interior or adding options.

Suggestions welcome!

AmeriPOD - The Truck Topper Shell specifically designed for use with AmeriDeck SuperDeck III.

This is the home for the all new AmeriPOD truck camper with SuperDeck III Hydraulic lift.

Uses?  Overlanding, Mountain Bicycle touring, deer camp, getting to the mountains or desert.

Using a modified “landing wheel” design, AmeriDeck SuperDeck III remains 10” (TBD) off
the ground when unloaded.  This keeps the AmeriTop off the ground, high and dry. The deck
stays with the Topper. Or can be removed with the topper standing on standard RV jacks.
Tie-downs to soil anchors recommended.

Caution, when you later proceed to roll the deck back under the AmeriTop use caution.  The
deck was not designed to be pushed while your vehicle is in reverse. There is no capability to
steer the deck going backwards.

Standard units are .125 aircraft grade aluminum.  The roof rack is not intended for people to stand on, but a reinforced roof is available. Among your options are 1x1" tubular "studs" on 16" centers and reinforced roof spars.

Optional Forward Cargo Rack needs to be 29” above deck level to clear truck cab.  The cab is
about 15” forward from the front of the pod.

We need to add carry handles on both sides so 4 people can carry the unit.

AmeriPOD Options : 6’6” or 8’6” interior length x 84 or 96” wide across the upper section.

The very basic unit with only two rear entry doors and the kitchen door lists for $9,573 + $4,380 for
the SuperDeck-III. The decks ship from PA and the AmeriPOD ships from Northeastern Iowa.
Base unit. 84" wide x 84" long with 66" ceiling.

Options:

Exact length, width and height can be changed to suit your needs.  Nominal design charge
and material charges apply.
Door and tailgate designs have many options (single door, barn doors, tailgate only, windows…)
Exterior colors or diamond plate
Reinforced roof for observation deck
Leveling jacks
Caster wheels
Fixed or Slider side windows in walls or doors

Electrical packages for lighting or the camper option
Interior drop-down bunk across front wall &/or tables
Exterior lift handles for physically moving the unit by brute strength
Adjustable ground legs to elevate the unit brom the ground
Exterior or interior toolbox doors and cabinets
Coat hooks and hanger brackets

Inside/outside 24x48" kitchen door with flip-out countertop

Concept pod on order!

Happy Weekend!

I'm developing a camping pod along the lines of overlanding equipment and am looking for ways to
get the word out about our "system."  It's an all aluminum pod that sits in a pickup truck above an AmeriDeck hydraulic lift. The result is a pod that can be left onboard the truck or lowered to the ground at the touch of a button and left behind.

That's a lot to grasp in one sitting, but you can see more at my website www.AmeriDeckMidwest.com .  Click on the tab for "camping pod".

I have my prototype on order (mid-July, alas...) and I'm working to establish a dealer/referral network.

There's a 7' version for short-bed trucks and an 8'6" version for full-size.  The base striped down
unit (pod together with hydraulic lift) will retail (pre-release price) for $13,330 with lots of options.
I do have margin enough to pay referrals.

Any interest or suggestions?

Write or call any time.

Thanks,

Jeff - -   ps. My overlanding background is 22 months on BMW motorcycle.
